I’m passionate about green smoothies because quite frankly, they changed my life! In my early 20’s I began to gain weight…and continued to gain weight. Not only was I gaining weight, I had no energy, couldn’t focus, my skin was an absolute mess with constant breakouts, and I was depressed. I tried my best to eat what I considered at that time to be a healthy diet. When that didn’t work, I started experimenting with diet pills, counting calories & restricting, fat free, sugar, free, raw foods, point systems, high protein, low carb…you name it, I tried it! It seemed that no matter what I did, I still struggled to achieve a body that I was confident in and that I could maintain. Diet pills and counting calories would work for a week or so but inevitably I would always find myself going back to the same old pattern of intense cravings and binging. Restricting my calories only lead me to get so hungry that I would binge and yo-yo out of control. This pattern continued for many years. It was a really troublesome time for me. I felt very out of control with my eating and very ashamed that I couldn’t ‘get it together’. I couldn’t lose weight no matter what I did and I was feeling worse and worse with each passing month.
